Bengali Association Lost a special Person


Dr. S N Banerjee Passes Away

We profound grief and sorrow we inform the sad demise of Dr. Satyanand Banerjee, popularly known as Dr. S N Banerjee and former president of Bengali Association, T T Nagar on August 25. His funeral and other rituals held on the same day at Subhash Nagar Vishram Ghat, Bhopal.
The Bengali Association prays for his soul rest in peace and gives his family strength to recover from his shock and loss.

SALIL CHATTERJEE, SECRETARY, BENGALI ASSOCIATION SAYS :
Late Dr. S N Banerjee, popularly known as Mukulda amongst his friends was deeply associated with the activities of the association. He was amongst the earlier members who contributed in the construction of the present Temple. His passing away is a great loss to the Bengali fraternity of Bhopal. Developing the association and its activities was always in his mind and was a constant source of inspiration to the younger generation. Even at this age his mind was tuned with the today' youth and whenever he met any new faces he would invite him/them to become member of the association and contribute to its development. The generation gap was never felt in his presence. He was always youthful. Fond of good food and sweets was his weakness.The members of the Bengali Association of T T Nagar, Bhopal has lost a Fatherly figure and his memories shall always be alive in the hearts of all of us. He was President of the Association over 5 years. The entire Executive of the Association and prominent persons were present in the special meeting held on 28th Aug. with a condolence meeting in the Association premises and remembered the contributions made by Late Dr. Banerjee and prayed that his soul rest in peace and give strength to his family members to bear this great loss.

REMEMBERING GANGOPADHYAY

DR. P B GANGOPADHYAY'S LAST RITUALS
ON 20TH AUGUST


Dr. Phalguni Bijoy Gangopadhyay (2 Dec 1950-10 Aug 2011)

Dr. P B Gangopadhyay, retired IFS and former Chief Conservator of Forest passed away on August 10, 2011 at his residence at Delhi.
Born on 2nd December, 1950 and educated at Presidency College, Calcutta, Late Gangopadhyay joined the Indian Forest Service in 1975. A recipient of AIFC Honours diploma and Sulochana Naidu Memorial Prize in Indian Forest College, he was allotted to the Madhya Pradesh Cadre and served in various capacities under the Government of Madhya Pradesh as Production and Territorial DFO and prepared Working Plan for Bori Sanctuary. He was also served as Conservator of Forests of Durg and Bhopal Circle and Additional Secretary, Forest Department to the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Joined ICFRE on deputation in April 1994, he worked as National Project Director of UNDP/ICFRE Project and also held additional responsibility of Dy. Director General Education in ICFRE. For more than a year, Late Gangopadhyay worked as Director Silviculture Research in FRI. Later he joined as Director, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, on 17th July, 1997.
Late P B Gangopadhyay attended several training courses including Training in Research Methodology at Oxford Forestry Institute, UK. His key areas of interest were scientific and objective management of forest resources, developing human resource and strengthening foundations of forest services.
This person associated with various Bengali and social activities. He has left his wife and a son and a daughter.
Late Gangopadhyay’s last ritual would be accomplished in Delhi on August 20, 2011 at 12.00 noon. His family has requested everybody to join in the prayers for the peace of his departed soul.
