SAMPA KUNDU IN BANGLA UTSAV 2011


Sampa Kundu, the well known singer from Kolkata, has a Masters degree in Vocal Music from Rabindra Bharati University. She was tutored in various classical and light classical forms of Vocal music by, among others, her father Late Subir Kundu who was himself tutored by Late Tarapada Kundu; Amalendu Pal who was a student of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan; Sukumar Mitra; Anal Chatterjee; Jatileswar Mukherjee and Amal Pal.
In the Bangla Utsav 2011, she will perform with a fresh music tune with a touch of classical and traditional lyrics.

ANUREKHA GHOSH WILL PRESENT 
"BASANTI" IN BANGLA UTSAV



Anurekha Ghosh will present a classical based dance “BASANTI” in the Bangla Utsav 2011 on May 20, 2011 in the Inaugural Day at Ravindra Bhavan, Bhopal.

Anurekha Ghosh and her company musicians and dancers will build upon the essence and visual canvas of the three temperate seasons Vasant, Grishma and Barsha through a bouquet of pure classical compositions - Dhrupad, Khayal, Hori, Kajri, Tarana and Tagore’s songs, poetry building upon a dialogue between Prakriti/Nayika (Nature) and Purush (The Source/Creator), nurturing the varied emotions, feelings and colours from dawn to dusk, as the seasons passes along.  Basanti is a pure dance presentation exploring cross-cultural movement and expression and a colourful geometry of designs against space and time. The breath, fragrance and feel of eachs eason will connect to the inner soul through visual and body metaphors. The performance is being directed by Anurekha Ghosh

BANGLA UTSAV 2011 RESCHEDULED

BHOPAL, March 04 : M P Bangiya Parishad, organisers of BANGLA UTSAV 2011, the first ever combined festival of Bengali fragrance, has decided a change of dates in an important meeting today evening. The event, originally scheduled to be held at Ravindra Bhavan, Bhopal on 02-04 April 2011, will now take place at the same venue from May 20 to 22, 2011. 

The decision to reschedule the event has been taken in view of concerns raised by several subcommittee heads over recent developments of Political Election in West Bengal and shortage of time limit. The committee have come to the conclusion that the best approach is to reschedule this year’s event from April first week to May Third week this year. 

Organisers have expressed their hopes that rescheduling of this festival will give more room to bring participants from West Bengal; at that same time all subcommittees will get time toward a structured approach to accomplish their respective goal. 

President A K Bhattacharya, Secretary Salil Chatterjee, Covenor Shipra Bhattacharyya, Treasurer Ashima Mukherjee along with Anoop Ghosh (Plenary), Parantapa Choudhury (Cultural), B K Ganguly (Cuisine), Pramatha Devnath (Resource Management), Prasanta Majumder (Exhibition) and other senior persons were also present in this meeting.

In a recent development, Madhya Pradesh Bangiya Parsishad has finalised its’ project Bangla Utsav 2011 today.
This event aims to showcase and highlight the Bengali culture and traditions and to provide a common platform of the Bengalees settled in Central India. This kind of objective is to be considered as first ever effort to enrich and add values to the Bengali tradition and practices. The dates of this festival would be chosen any three days between April 1 & 4 next year at Rabindra Bhavan, Bhopal.

In this event there will be delicious food stalls, stalls of handicrafts and various traditional and ethnic items, Books, audio-video from Bengal along with thoughtful discussions on attentive issues related to the Bengalees along with cultural events of artists from entire Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal.
